Hanover Search has been online longer than Google28th Aug 08

10 years online may not sound like a long time when you benchmark it against how long many companies have been established; however 10 years online makes Hanover Search one of the longest serving Executive Search websites on the internet.

To put it in to context here are a few reminders as to what was going on in the world of computing 10 years ago when Hanover first entered the world wide web:

  • Compaq, Gateway and Amstrad computers where the family computers of choice, which were being primarily bought from retail stores like John Lewis and PC World. Brands like Tiny, Evesham Vale, Mesh and TIME were all just beginning to hit the high street and appear in the pages of our newspapers.

  • Apple iMac G3 (the funky colour all-in-one units) were just hitting the shelves which was probably the first real turning point for Apple's brand name which later became the commercial sought after brand it is today.

  • Floppy Disk (1.44mb), which ran out of space after one document.  The days when people often had to sit there saving files on to an entire box. Everyone loved the multi-colour packs but hated the sticky labels.

  • Zip Disks (100mb) - For the so called 'People In The Know' where you would always come across the man down the pub trying to impress the ladies with his increased size (of storage that is).

  • VIAGRA just hit the market in 1998 and what we didn't know then was that the side affects of the 'Magic Blue Pill' weren't just going to be UP sides, but they were also going to be the root of INCREADABLE AMOUNTS OF SPAM in 8-10 years from then (i.e NOW).

  • Google was launched as a BETA later that year in 1998.
