Case Study: Head of EMEA Wholesale Distribution

Hanover was asked to source the Head of EMEA Wholesale
Distribution for Legal & General Investment Management.

The Challenge

This was a completely new role
for LGIM, so education on competitor structures and asset success stories was
crucial for the pitch process. LGIM is the largest UK headquartered asset
manager with over £1trn of assets, but their coverage model in Europe is
relatively new. They had two representative offices in Frankfurt and Milan. Due
to Brexit, the successful candidate for this role had to be based in Europe,
have worked for a global asset management business previously, built a team and
had demonstrable success in asset gathering in their previous roles. Quite a
wish list. They also had to be willing to travel extensively to both existing
offices and scope out additional coverage locations in places such as
Switzerland as part of this remit.

The Solution

We presented several competitor
structures that demonstrated our track record and market knowledge in this area
to you at L&G Investment Management. Hanover identified the most relevant
candidate by experience, personal brand and location and was also able to
independently reference candidates as part of the process and present client
and peer feedback to LGIM as part of the shortlist process. Country by country
market mapping provided the client with additional industry insights, which
also proved invaluable to the overall process.

The Outcome

LGIM successfully onboarded the new and
first Head of EMEA Wholesale in 2021.
