Cate Furman

Cate is a Managing Partner and the P&C Insurance and Reinsurance Practice Leader at Hanover in New York. She joined the firm in 2012 as the second U.S. employee and played a key role in establishing operations from the ground up. Cate is responsible for nurturing and expanding Hanover’s Re/Insurance client base, specializing in C-suite and senior-level roles across Broking, Underwriting, and Claims, as well as overseeing operations, finance, actuarial, compliance, marketing, and sales. With previous insurance industry experience across Europe and Latin America, Cate has a natural talent for building relationships at all levels and across different cultures. She is passionate about the insurance industry and excels at matching top-tier talent with top-notch companies.

What is the biggest change you have seen since being at Hanover?
As the second Hanover US employee, I’ve seen our firm evolve from being small and unknown into an established and well-respected brand. We’ve grown together as a team, and the training and support we provide our employees today (and especially our newest team members) are the best they’ve ever been.

How do you build great relationships with your clients and candidates?
I genuinely care about people. I listen to our candidates’ hesitations or concerns and address them to the best of my knowledge. When it comes to clients, I always portray my candidates as accurately as possible and do my best to be personable and efficient. Building a relationship of trust is essential in our business.
