Matt, an Associate Partner at Hanover's NYC office, brings over 15 years of executive recruiting experience specializing in C-suite searches across technology, digital, fintech, enterprise/SaaS, and consumer internet sectors. He excels in building leadership teams for privately held, early & mid-stage, and corporate businesses across a wide variety of functional areas including Sales, Marketing, Finance, Operations, Technology, HR and Legal. In addition, Matt has assisted venture capital and private equity firms across the US in recruiting Partners, Principals, and operating executives. Matt strategically partners with management teams, Boards, and investors, taking a hands-on approach to develop impactful and lasting relationships with clients and candidates, driving valuable results by recruiting leaders who add a competitive edge and value to his clients' teams. Matt graduated from American University where he was a member of the Men's Division I Soccer Team. What would your one piece of advice be when starting a company?
When starting a company, it’s crucial to thoroughly understand and validate your market before fully committing to your business idea. Conduct market research to identify your target audience, assess the demand for your product or service, and analyze your competitors. This knowledge will help you refine your business concept, tailor your offerings to meet customer needs, and make informed decisions. By having a solid understanding of your market, you increase the likelihood of creating a product or service that truly addresses customer needs, setting the foundation for long-term success and growth.
What 3 tips would you give someone looking for a new role/career?
- Self-Assessment and Clarity: Take the time to assess your skills, strengths, values, and interests. Clarify your career goals and aspirations. Understand what you're looking for in terms of company culture, work environment, and career advancement.
- Networking and Professional Presence: Build and leverage your network through events, LinkedIn, and online communities. Enhance your online presence by updating your LinkedIn profile, sharing achievements, and engaging with industry content. Inform your network about your job search and seek informational interviews for insights on potential industries or companies.
