Una is the Global Marketing and Strategy Director for Hanover, sits on the global executive board, supports the directors and leadership team in delivering the business' strategic objectives and business plans. Una has over 20 years of experience in the staffing sector and previously worked as a board member for a global recruitment business. Una is passionate about working with Hanover and all parts of the group to identify and implement strategic growth initiatives and create commercial and marketing strategies aligned to business growth. Una supports the business' desired outcomes with progressive recruitment and talent marketing - which is client-focused, digital-first and content-leading. In addition, Una is passionate about being a role model for other women developing their careers and regularly contributes to industry initiatives.
What advice would you give someone when looking to grow and develop their people and leaders?
I've managed teams throughout my career, and the 'light bulb' in the room was when I realised I didn't need to have all the answers; work with your team to develop the plan and tactics. You need to understand the direction you want to take; however, once you know this, you can gain commitment from your team by giving control. Let your people be part of the solution, support, and enable your team. Emotions and energy are infectious, I always place a high value on sustaining energy and commitment levels, knowing that people will follow you and believe in what you and they are doing. I value commitment, reliability, and creativity, so I continuously evolve these.
What excites you most about your role?
Being involved in driving the marketing and strategy for Hanover allows me to be creative, influence all departments, and genuinely develop my knowledge and insights into financial services and critical challenges and opportunities for clients around all aspects of recruiting, engaging, developing, and assessing executive talent. I enjoy supporting and empowering my team to develop their marketing skills and am passionate about how crucial the link between sales success and marketing has become. Continuing to evolve how we innovate, build our brand and products to our clients’ needs and provide valuable insights to our customers is hugely rewarding for me.
