The situation

Our client, a market-leading general insurance company, had a requirement to recruit an additional INED to strengthen its board, and it placed a major emphasis on improving the gender balance and diversity within the composition of the board.

Meet the team

The approach

Having worked with the same client on three searches for leadership positions in the previous twelve months, we had a good understanding of the culture of and nuances within the organisation. Importantly, we were equally aware of what was lacking in terms of cognitive diversity and strength of constructive challenge.

The Results

We presented a diverse shortlist, from which a female candidate, who had experience of working with a regulator and in the risk organisation of an insurance business, was appointed. She continues to play a significant role in the strategic oversight and guidance of the organisation.
